Day Number 3!

Our third day in London, was one full of walking. Our agenda for the day was to go to the British Museum, eat lunch, then to have a tour around the London Olympic Park.   We met up at 9:30 am in the hotel lobby. Some of us were a little late to the meet up because we were still getting over the jet-lag. We took a Double Decker bus and got on a “tube” (the subway) to the British Museum.

Personally I enjoyed walking around the museum and seeing all the old relics of Greece
and all the things England has collected over the centuries. While we were there Professor
Kim gave us a lecture about how women were not allowed to participate or even watch
the Ancient Olympic games. The Olympic Games today is drastically different from the
Ancient Olympic Games.

After the museum professor Kim gave us some time to get lunch.  We all went to a Italian restaurant nearby. We were suppose to meet up around 1:30 pm but again some of us were late because we did not realize that the server did not separate the bill for all of us instead he gave us one bill with all of our orders on it. So we had to wait for him to separate the bill for us. After lunch we got back on a tube to travel to East London for the tour of the London Olympic Park. We met our tour guide Owen outside of the tube station. He showed us the Athletes village and talked about how they lived and how they trained during the 2012 Olympic Games. He also told us that the city of London did not want the village to be a ghost town after the Olympics so they sold the apartments there to a real estate company who then rented them out after the games.

When we were done walking around the village we went to the Lee Valley Velopark which was used for the cycling events during the games. This structure is still in use for local cyclists and other events.  Once Owen, our tour guide was done talking about the Velopark he took us on a walk around the Olympic park and we saw the Monument for the Olympic games and Professor Kim took a groups photo of us.

We then walked to the Olympic stadium and Owen told us how the stadium was built to
be demolished easily, but instead of being demolished it is now used for one of London's
soccer team The West Ham United.  When it is not soccer season the stadium is used for
other events like concerts and other sport events. Once our tour guide was done talking
about the stadium our tour was done. After the tour Professor Kim had us do a group
bonding exercise on one of the art pieces in the park. Which was pretty entertaining to
watch everyone work together to get it right.

After we finished the bonding exercise Professor Kim let us have a free evening. We
decided to stay at the park to shop and have dinner since there was a mall in the park.
We all took a tube back to our hotel when we were done. After only three days this group
of people have become pretty close with each other and I can not wait to see if we will
still be close with each other after this trip is over.
