Day two of this trip started with me being awoken by my roommate 15 minutes before we had to be down for the initial group meeting, and then followed with the fastest shower I've ever had in my life. By some miracle, we made it down on time and then the whole group took a double decker bus to the Syracuse University London Campus. It was really interesting to see what an abroad campus building looked like, and I really liked the layout of the building and how much was packed in there. After we got settled, Professor Kim gave us a lecture about some financial, logistical, and administrative details about the modern Olympics as well as a summary of the Olympic message. Then, the group got some time to spend in the computer lab to do a bit of inital research about our research projects. I got several good sources for my topic (The Olympic Bid Process) and developed a more concise idea about where I want to take my paper.
When that period of time was over, we decided to walk for a while down the block before we found a good lunch place in Trattoria Verde. While some of us were a little late getting back, we had a fantastic meal before we took the bus and then the subway to Wembley Stadium for a really incisive tour that even let us take pictures in the substitute area.
After we left Wembley, we definitely didn't get lost for about a half an hour before wandering up to the Bar and Block which, miraculously, had a table for twelve ready and waiting for us when we walked in slightly underdressed. We capped off a great day with some awesome food, and I can't wait to enjoy more time with this amazing group of people tomorrow.
